چکیده

This paper studies the channel asymmetric characteristic between a downlink and an uplink channel in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA)/ time division duplexing (TDD) systems. To investigate the downlink and uplink channel asymmetry, we derive a propagation loss mo-del and a shadowing model taking into consideration geometrical information and inter-cell interference. Then, the channel asymmetric cases are introduced based on the proposed channel models. Numerical results show that the causes of the uplink and downlink channel asymmetry are mainly due to the coverage of neighbor cells and the usage ratio of uplink and downlink traffic. As coverage of neighbor cells increases, an uplink signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) becomes lower than that of a downlink SINR. In addition, as uplink traffic of mobile stations (MSs) increases, an uplink SINR decreases. increases. Based on the analysis, we propose the novel handover ranging power adjustment scheme for IEEE 802.16e system which improves the handover performance.

Performance Evaluation of Handover Scheme Considering Uplink and Downlink Signals in IEEE 802.16e Systems

1 good. The conventional handover scheme is performed considering only downlink information. However uplink and downlink signal qualities can be asymmetric in Time Division Duplexing (TDD)/Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems like IEEE 802.16e systems. Therefore conventional handover schemes based on the downlink signal could degrade the uplink quality of service (QoS)....

Transmit and Receive Beamforming for OFDMA/TDD System

It is well-known that mobile communication systems are usually limited in their performance and capacity by three major impairments, which are multi-path fading, delay spread and co-channel interference (CCI). OFDMA (OFDM-FDMA) system can cope with the multi-path fading and delay spread easily due to the beneficial properties of OFDM technology. Though OFDMA scheme avoids intra-cell interferenc...

Performance Analysis of Sc-FDMA and OFDMA in LTE Frame Structure

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is consents pliable spectrum distribution which renders enriched wireless data services to users at lower latency and multi-megabit throughput. LTE uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (Sc-FDMA) for downlink and Uplink transmission where OFDMA has been acquired in LTE for downlink transmission ...

On Joint Sub-channel Allocation, Duplexing Mode Selection, and Power Control in Full-Duplex Co-Channel Femtocell Networks

As one of the promising approaches to increase the network capacity, Full-duplex (FD) communications have recently gained a remarkable attention. FD communication enables wireless nodes to simultaneously send and receive data through the same frequency band. Thanks to the recent achievements in the self-interference (SI) cancellation, this type of communication is expected to be potentially uti...

Channel Estimation for TDD/FDD Massive MIMO Systems with Channel Covariance Computing

In this paper, we propose a new channel estimation scheme for TDD/FDD massive MIMO systems by reconstructing uplink/downlink channel covariance matrices (CCMs) with the aid of array signal processing techniques. Specifically, the angle information and power angular spectrum (PAS) of each multi-path channel is extracted from the instantaneous uplink channel state information (CSI). Then, the upl...
